Commonly seen along forest edges, clearings, shrubby areas, meadows, and near cultivated fields. Adults fly from May to September. The caterpillars feed on grasses of the Poaceae family. A frequent and widespread species

One of the first signs of spring, often mistakenly called a “Cekinček.” Males have lemon-yellow wings, while females are yellowish-green. It has two generations per year; the second overwinters in tree hollows and crevices. Caterpillars feed on shrubs like common buckthorn and alder buckthorn.

Flies from June to October, with a period of dormancy during the hottest, driest months. Adults overwinter and reappear from March to May the following year. Caterpillars feed on the leaves of stinging nettle and common hop.

Inhabits marshy and moist meadows. May produce two generations per year: one flying from May to June, the second from August to September. Females lay eggs on the undersides of dock leaves. A protected species.
